Ready to tackle the Jiankou section of the Great Wall

The airport is huge and modern, and like so much else in Beijing it was pretty much built for the 2008 Olympics.  Eight years later they’re still taking your temperature when you enter the country.

The Forbidden City has long since been permitted, and the Great Wall is just as great as ever.  But gone are the swarms of bicycles, replaced with swarms of BYDs and BMWs.
