It may look like the surface of another planet, but it’s really part of central Turkey. It’s Cappadocia, of course…the weird but wonderful land of ‘fairy chimneys’, cave hotels and a mid-air traffic jam of hot air balloons almost every morning.

Listen in as we recount worldschooling adventures with our two youngest in what has to be one of the most kid-friendly nations on Earth. Spend even a few days in the renowned town of Goreme and you’ll feel like you’re on the Turkish version of Sesame Street…where everyone including the storekeeper knows your name and offers a friendly wave.

Land Rover Tour Of Cappadocia

Cappodocia is a short (and inexpensive) flight from Istanbul, followed by an hour-long shuttle bus ride.  Your travels are richly rewarded with one of the most uniquely picturesque and culturally rich experiences imaginable.  And yes…it’s perfectly safe to be there.

Enjoy a fresh Mediterranean breakfast on your hotel’s rooftop balcony along with a cup or two of Turkey’s famous apple tea.  Then rent a car and explore towering rock “castles”, try your hand at pottery making, and even visit an underground city.
